How much should I charge for a freelance web design project?
I am just starting out as a freelancer.
The client wants full bells and whistles like guest boards, a place for members to put ads and sign up ect. It will also require maintenance afterwards. I am thinking 25 dollars an hour. Is that fair? He also is giving me access to a website where I can learn almost every design program there is out there. Is that a fair price considering everything?
Also, what should I charge for designing a logo?

If you are happy to work for $25 per hour, then charge that.
However, I would charge a flat fee. And the way I would do that is with a simple formula:
1. Break the job into distinct parts, e.g., page design; installing a forum; installing a classified ads script; etc.
2. If you are going to buy software to accomplish any of these goals, multiply their cost by 1.2. The extra is your markup, which is common when you buy things on behalf of others.
3. Guess how long each step is going to take. Then multiply each guess by 2.5, then multiply that by your hourly rate. However long you think things are going to take, it’s going to take twice as long, trust me.
4. Add the totals in steps 2 and 3. That’s your bid price.
For designing a logo, use logoworks.com, get them to do it, and charge 1.5 times whatever they charge you.
